How Does Steve Saenz Spell Destiny? P-L-E-A-S-U-R-E-S PDM's March DJ of the Month is the loquacious Steve Saenz. To say Steve is enthusiastic about his job is like saying an eagle can "sort of fly."

Steve doesn't just like being a DJ at Pleasures Gentleman's Club in Pasadena he feels it was his destiny to end up there. "It's interesting," Steve says of the road that brought him to Pleasures. "I was working at Channel 13 as an office boy, but I needed a second job to make ends meet. One day I was at a friend's house and I noticed he had some old DJ equipment lying around, so I thought to myself 'I'll be a DJ!"

His friend gave Steve the equipment and soon he was spinning CDs and working the mike at local parties and weddings. But money was still scarce, so he began moonlighting as a valet at Hollywood clubs, where he parked cars for the Fabulous People. "One night a couple came out of the club, and I heard them say they needed a limo driver for the evening," Steve explains. "I don't know why, but I volunteered to drive for them, and they took me up on it. My boss threatened to fire me if I left early, so I said 'don't bother, I quit!'" Steve laughs. "And where do you think they wanted me to drive them, Nica?" he asked. "Um... I don't know?" I admitted. "PLEASURES!!" He practically yelled. (How could I not guess?) According to Steve, his actions that night were directed by fate. He went inside Pleasures and chatted up the owner, who soon offered Steve a job as the club DJ. The rest is history - or according to Steve, divine destiny. That was 7 years ago, and Steve claims he hasn't had money woes or one bad day at work since. "I love it," he says. "I walk in every day with a smile on my face and I leave with a smile on my face.

How could I not love a job where beautiful women hand me money at the end of the night?" Good point. But there is a down side to working as a strip club DJ, and Steve is very outspoken about it. It involves the opposite sex, and his inability to find a woman who can accept his line of work. In fact, Steve just taped a segment on The Tyra Banks Show, where he was drilled about what it's like to work around beautiful, naked women every day, and how its affected his romantic life. "I can't be with a normal woman, a normal woman doesn't want to be with me," Steve says sadly. "So I really don't go out any more. I own my own home now, so I like staying home. I work in a club, so 'going out' for me is really just like going to work." Steve counts his 22-year-old daughter among those who don't understand - or appreciate - his line of work. "My daughter hates it, and she hates that I date younger women," Steve says. "But what I look for in a woman is T&A, and honesty." "T&A?" I asked, surprised at his, well, honesty. "Yep, I'm a teeth and ass man!" he laughs. "You didn't expect me to say that, did you? No, I love teeth. I am really into nice teeth." Steve also plans to write about his strip club experiences. "Through the eyes of the DJ - there's no book out there like that," he proclaims. "I'm definitely the one to write it." Steve still does parties and weddings on the side, and he can be contacted through his company, SAS Sound and Light Experience, at 909-463-4152.

You can catch Steve at Pleasures on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, and Friday afternoons. Pleasures is located at 3570 E. Foothill Blvd. in the city of Pasadena. For further information, contact the club at (626). 795-1259.
